The 20' × 32' Colonial timber frame is a proven, economical design built around traditional proportions and efficient joinery. It features tongue-and-fork common rafters, a straightforward system that keeps material and labor costs in check while maintaining the character expected of a classic timber frame.

Unlike many reduced-cost designs, this frame preserves a high eave height. The result is a loft that functions as true living space rather than leftover headroom. The loft is well suited for a bedroom or private sleeping area with open views over the great room below. For additional square footage, the loft floor system can be extended to create a larger second-level living area.
